Pismo Beach resident Brendon Pringle was the recent recipient of a $1,000 scholarship from the Santa Lucia Republican Women Federated club for his educational endeavors at Cal Poly.
 Dog rescued from Shell Beach cliff
Pismo Beach firefighters and members of the CaliforniaDepartment of Forestry rescue a dog named Tug Monday night after itgot too close to the edge of the cliff at Dinosaur Caves Park inShell Beach and slid about 70 feet. Firefighter Colby Mina waslowered by rope to rescue the dog, which was taken to a local vetwith unknown injuries.

When Jessica Ontiveros stepped off the stage at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf 2010 World Champion Barista competition, she burst into tears. The young barista wasn’t crying because she thought she brewed a winning cup of espresso; Ontiveros thought she had competed horribly.

The boom times had been over for the AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour. Now the tour is flourishing again. “The AVP Tour almost priced itself out in the 1980s,” Ernie Santa Cruz said. “They had big sponsorships, gave away a lot of prize money and they couldn’t get that kind of sponsorship back.
